Introduction

    College of Continuing Education was found in the late 1970s, and was approved by the national machinery department in 1988. Until 2005, its name has been replaced with current one. During the past 30 years, the college has made great achievements and educated lots of talents in science and technology for local governments and industries. Presently, it has been an indispensible part of higher education in Jiangsu University.
    Since the combination of three colleges to be Jiangsu University in 2010, continuing education has stepped into a brand new stage. Facing the new challenge and chance, our college added new subjects of medicine and teacher-training into its original disciplinary programs. The whole setup of subjects develops from 4 into 8 general disciplines of technology, science, medicine, literature, economics, management, laws, education, which could be subdivided into 55 majors for Bachelors’ degrees.
    Nowadays, our college owns multileveled teaching systems of adult education for associate degrees, Bachelor degrees, and training courses from junior college student to university student in the ways of part-time or correspondence teaching and learning. In addition, other training ways such as short-time training, professional training courses are applied in non-degree further education. At the same time, authorized by self-taught committee of Jiangsu province, we are designated as key exam institutions in charge of the self-taught subjects including electro-mechanical intelligent control , management engineering, laws, management of finance, logistics management, management of human resources(undergraduate period), E-government(associate degree). Self-taught exams from associate degrees to bachelors’ degrees are also executed in our college. And there are nearly 20000 students and around 40 training and teaching plots in 12 provinces.
Supported by highly- qualified teaching groups and advanced teaching equipments, inside the university, our college has built 8000 square meters’ academic buildings, 9000 square meters’ dormitory buildings, 3500 square meters’ training center and evening school bases in the downtown area, which are equipped with computer rooms, multimedia classrooms, language labs, audio-visual rooms, and multi-functional halls.
    Continuing education develops its own specialties in setting up intact management systems, teaching documents, teaching plans, teaching outlines, self-taught guidance.
In the past 20 years, we have had 50000 more graduates for local economic construction and have long been rated as the model group in self-taught exams, model college for adult education, and model unit for re-employment training.
    We will extend our great efforts to carry out continuing education, actively apply for long-distance internet education, and fully exploit internet resources to promote the correspondence education. Besides, we would try our best to make the college an open, highly-efficient, multi-leveled education system.
